Dr. Sharon Selinger has been in practice since 1987 and was recently joined at the One Springfield Avenue office by Dr. Matthew Surgan. Many of our established patients have wondered how this change will affect them. Be assured that we are planning to be here at this still sparkling new office for the long haul.
While Dr. Selinger will continue to serve her long term patients, Dr. Surgan's arrival will help with the numerous new patients referred to our burgeoning practice. Unfortunately, there are many new patients in need of care because endocrinology disorders are on the rise and because at least two of the area endocrinologists have recently retired. In addition, many of you have referred friends and relatives. Dr. Selinger is thankful for the confidence of your referrals and believes that Dr. Surgan will improve access to quality endocrine care.
Dr. Sharon Selinger
Sharon E. Selinger, MD, FACP, FACE is Chief of the Endocrine Section at Overlook Hospital, which is part of the Atlantic Health System. She specializes in Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism and Internal Medicine. She graduated from the Cornell University Medical College with a medical degree.
Dr. Selinger completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Her sub-specialty program in Endocrinology and Metabolism at NYU Medical Center, New York, included pituitary research. She is a board certified internist and board certified specialist in Endocrinology and Metabolism.
Dr. Selinger has been in clinical practice since 1987. She is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology (FACE). She is the President of the New Jersey chapter of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. She has faculty appointments at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, at NYU Medical College, and Mt. Sinai School of Medicine.
Dr. Matthew Surgan
Dr. Surgan joined Dr. Selinger as a full time practicing endocrinologist in 2007. Like Dr. Selinger, he completed his sub-specialty program in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the NYU Bellevue Medical Center in New York. He came highly recommend by the Chief of Endocrinology at the NYU Medical Center. He graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey with a medical degree.
Dr. Surgan completed an internal medicine internship and chief residency at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, New Hyde Park, New York. Medical research topics include growth hormone secretion, angioplasty in type 2 diabetes and adrenal insufficiency in the critically ill. He is board certified in internal medicine, and a board certified specialist in Endocrinology and Metabolism.
